Through the flames I must go

Cold waves come
tides aren't turning

On this shore finding only
my footsteps on the sand

And suddenly all waters frozen
like time so unstoppable has stopped

Years have left the teeth marks
on my face these scars don't lie

They tell the story of mine
without words I'm drowning

And suddenly all the pain ends
but this remedy won't kill the memories

Grounds for nothing are here
everywhere untouched surfaces

Places where I always wanted to be
but now I only want to leave

This life has nothing to give
but to take years away day by day
whatever else is out there
I'm grateful for something I've achieved
yet I cannot be here all the time
to see how my children will grow older than me

Until the day of reckoning comes
the tides come colder and won't turn
and I must pay my toll for everything
invisible coins to cover my eyelids
and I'm afraid that's not enough
and the soul to take to leave ashes
