If I were a clock,
you'd be the second hand on my face
You move around me in steady circles,
never ceasing,
keeping me working
You make the minutes change
into something new,
you matter more than the hours
that drag by

But I have a myriad faces
You have touched several
and you've held them all dear,
yet there are thousands of them
that are yet to be seen
Would you understand the ones
that move anticlockwise,
accept the ones
that will never tick again
and have the courage to polish the ones
that are stained by my time,
by the corrupt years
that follow me around?

They all move forwards
in different rhytms,
some of them running backwards
and attempting to hide
They tick in my head,
fill it to the brim
until I want to smash them all
But my heavy hand can't rise
and stop the time
Just like my mind can't reign over
and stop my beating heart

Even if you wind me,
the clocks inside won't synchronize
You can try to fine-tune my frame,
but my soul won't be harmonized
So if you want to love me,
you'll have to hold on the cracks
and fight your way inside
Settle in to my tide
and find the right eras to embrace
until enough days go by
to make me me worth your while
