Nic is the head of our Black Coats.
The young man values education ('Straight 9s, he told us) and
life without alcohol, drugs, or tobacco
('Only Clowns drink or smoke,' he told us.)
Unfortunately, this fine man has been without motherly love – in Finland, the
system has systematically violated good mothers and their children, and Nic
was separated from his mother, too, without any real cause. His mother
followed Jesus – A sober and a stable woman. However, she was
unmarried – she was abused by her husband-to-be, Nic's dad, and she
cancelled the wedding. She lived happily with Nic, until suddenly, when Nic
was 10, Nic's dad attacked her together with the social workers. The reason
was money – the guy was unemployed and wanted to get more money
through Nic.
Our Paula is like the 2nd mother to Nic, and Nic is like Paula's
own son. She respects his intelligence and understand how
deeply the system in Finland wounded this young man. Nic's
father doesn't help him with schoolwork or anything, he's
[quote] a drunk fucker – Paula has helped the boy, and he is a
Star, straight 9s.
