PROLOGUE
The narrow area between
Life and Death is gray,
And the area turns white
Only if you are honest to yourself
And brave enough to express
Your love
To the one
You truly fancy and adore.
From the white,
A child can be born:
Alfonsio
– "Fonzie" –
Is the brainchild of
Paula and Mauricio Bravo.
He’s the cutest tiny monkey
With brown eyes and a wide smile:
He looks like his father,
And he has his mother’s superbrain.
A LITTLE PRAYER
Alfonsio is a smart little monkey,
And he says a little prayer
To start off an awesome day!
"Dear Lord!" declares the baby
Like he’s 5 feet 10 inches (and not
8,66 inches) tall:
"I wish my mommy has the best day ever,
And I wish daddy has a great day, too,
Although it cannot be that great
Because he has to work with the wicked and the
crippled and he cannot eat strawberries
With me and mommy.
Oh Lord,
Please,
Make my day sweet:
Give me some strawberries!
Amen!"
And the second Alfonsio stops,
His mommy brings him a bowl of squashed strawberries
– his favorite dish –
And he watches an episode of Sesame Street:
He really loves the red fellow called Elmo!
THE ULTIMATE WINNER
Alfonsio loves the forest,
He loves the cliffs, too.
It’s very important for a child to be outside
And enjoy the free things in life.
He smells the fresh air,
He sees the water, oh so blue,
He feels the rough rocks under his soft soles,
He hears the chirping of the sparrows,
And he tastes the sour, yet sweet,
Apple juice
– His mommy gives him a juice box
After he has managed to reach the top of the
cliff.
It’s a good day to be a tiny monkey:
Alfonsio is the ultimate winner!

EDUCATION
Mommy takes Alfonsio to the Botanic Garden:
Mommy tells Alfonsio that
Education is important
And Nature is the manifestation of G-d.
Alfonsio is so excited!
He has never taken the bus before,
And he presses himself tightly against mommy’s warm body.
The city is noisy and gray,
But the Botanic Garden is so peaceful:
It’s like a bubble inside a monster machine!
It’s March, but it’s not Spring yet:
The only flower Alfonsio sees is
the lonely Iris reticulata,
but Oh Boy, it is so pretty!
It’s dark violet,
And it shows its bright yellow tongue
To Alfonsio!
Alfonsio touches it, gently, and names it
Rupert.
Rupert waves his tiny green hand
When Alfonsio and mommy walk to greet
The giant Populus x canadensis 'Regenerata'.
The massive tree is mommy’s favorite,
And she tells Alfonsio about the tree’s history:
Just like Alfonsio, the tree has an origin,
A mother and a father,
And there is no other tree like him
Although the so-called human beings decided to
put all the "certain types" under the label
Populus x canadensis 'Regenerata'.

EPILOGUE
Daddy punishes himself a lot
Because daddy is a priest.
Alfonsio doesn’t like that,
He thinks daddy’s suffering is stupid,
But he loves to eat daddy’s share (of the meal)
– fasting is not for the tiny monkeys.
Mommy used to fast just like the Jewish monks,
But nowadays, she’s allowed to eat crispy chicken and fries,
And she lets daddy to be the ultimate hardcore
Flex Boy*
Because it’s very important to daddy
To show everybody, who is the boss.
But the boss is, actually, Alfonsio:
The baby,
Just like Baby Jesus,
Is the one who dictates the way of life,
And the path is Love.
*Urban: Somebody who thinks he’s Jesus Himself and works hard to appear cosmic & fit but doesn’t get results A.S.A.P. and needs somebody to make him look better – begins to flex.
